Types of business licences provided in DIA zone -

Initial steps for setting up a company in DIA

  • Applying for a licence. Application will be available on the DIA website.
  • Submission of the proposed business plan
  • Passport copies of all top management officials. Submit passport copies of managers, directors and shareholders.

DIC authorities will review the application and upon approval will send a provisional approval letter to the applicant. An applicant has to submit the following documents within 15 days after getting the provisional approval letter.


Documents to be submitted for setting up a limited liability company

  • Certificate of registration
  • Memorandum and Articles of Association
  • Certificate of good standing
  • A list of the members in the director board
  • Proof of company's initial capital

Documents to be submitted for setting up a local or foreign branch

  • A copy of the certificate of registration of the parent company
  • A copy of the certificate of good standing of the parent company
  • A copy of Memorandum and Articles of Association of the parent company
  • A copy of Valid Trade Licence of the UAE Company
  • A copy of Commercial Registration of the UAE Company

The submitted documents will be assessed by the authorities for its validity and check the availability of the office space. A customer confirmation letter will be send to the applicant the completion of the review procedure. Next step is the issue of Lease agreement for the office space and the Personnel sponsorship agreement. All these have to be returned with the applicants sign and seal to the DIA authority. Once all these procedures are completed finished, the DIC will issue a trade license.

Even though a local Emirati sponsor who would have 51% ownership of your company, certain businesses simply work better with a Non Free Zone license.
